Good Faith Estimate Notice

In an attempt to make medical bills more transparent, healthcare providers are now required by federal law to provide self-pay clients with Good Faith Estimates for services that will be provided.

We want you to understand the cost of therapy. At Nashville Therapy Group, we charge each client a per-session fee after each session. Your session fee will be set by your therapist during your intake process. Our standard rates for licensed therapists range from $150 to $300 per session. Our standard rates for pre-licensed therapists range from $1oo to $150 per session. Our standard rates for student interns range from $50 to $100 per session. Some therapists may have higher rates, and some therapists may have lower rates.

We will always be clear and upfront with you about your session fees and how you will be charged, but if you are ever uncertain about fees, charges, or our billing process, please let us know and we will be happy to answer any questions you might have. If you are concerned about the cost of therapy, talk with us. All of our therapists make room in their schedules for clients who need reduced rates.

When it comes to therapy, the difficult part of providing a Good Faith Estimate is knowing how long your treatment might last. Each client has a unique background, distinct goals, and varying availability. We often find that significant progress can be made within six to eight therapy sessions. Some clients see progress sooner, others prefer to work more slowly and deliberately if their journey is prolonged.

If your therapist is a licensed professional charging between $150 and $300 per session, the estimated ranges of the total cost of a course of therapy are as follows:

  • A course of therapy lasting 3 to 8 sessions costs between $350 to $2400.

  • A course of therapy lasting 9 to 19 sessions costs between $1350 to $5700.

  • A course of therapy lasting more than 20 sessions costs a minimum of $3000.

If your therapist is an intern or a pre-licensed professional charging between $50 and $150 per session, the estimated ranges of the total cost of a course of therapy are as follows:

  • A course of therapy lasting 3 to 8 sessions costs between $150 to $1500.

  • A course of therapy lasting 9 to 19 sessions costs between $450 to $2859.

  • A course of therapy lasting more than 20 sessions cost a minimum of $1000.

Additional Costs

Clients sometimes request additional services and there are charges for these services. The fee for report writing including evaluations and treatment summaries is $300 per hour with a minimum of one hour paid in advance.

Clients or their attorneys will pay $500 per hour for courtroom testimony, with a minimum of three hours payable in advance, when honoring a subpoena or when providing testimony in court, regardless of whether or not the therapist actually testifies. If you or someone representing you requests your clinical record, there is a $100 processing fee.

As these services are rare, they are not included in a Good Faith Estimate unless they are specifically requested.

Requesting a Good Faith Estimate

Nashville Therapy Group will be happy to provide you with written Good Faith Estimate at any time. All you have to do is ask your therapist, the Client Concierge, or the Clinical Director.

Your Good Faith Estimate will show the costs of items and services that are reasonably expected for your health care needs. The estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate was created. Your Good Faith Estimate does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise during treatment. You could be charged more if complications or special circumstances occur. If this happens, federal law allows you to dispute the bill.

If you are billed for more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill.

You may contact the health care provider or facility listed to let them know the billed charges are higher than your Good Faith Estimate. You can ask them to update the bill to match the Good Faith Estimate, ask to negotiate the bill, or ask if there is financial assistance available.

You may also start a dispute resolution process with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). If you choose to use the dispute resolution process, you must start the dispute process within 120 calendar days (about 4 months) of the date on the original bill.

There is a $25 fee to use the dispute process. If the agency reviewing your dispute agrees with you, you will have to pay the price on this Good Faith Estimate. If the agency disagrees with you and agrees with the health care provider or facility, you will have to pay the higher amount.

To learn more and get a form to start the process, or for more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate or the dispute process, go to www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call HHS at (800) 368-1019. Keep a copy of your Good Faith Estimate in a safe place or take pictures of it. You may need it if you are billed a higher amount.
