Chad Douglas Johnson, LMFT
Marriage and Family Therapist at the Nashville and Brentwood Offices
Welcome! You came here today for a reason. Maybe that’s an individual struggle, a relational conflict, you find yourself stuck in a transition or season of life, or you’re simply searching for ways to balance it all. I will help you understand the “why” and figure out the “how” as together we'll navigate your unique challenges to achieve a life of peace, purpose, and authenticity.
There is no one-size-fits-all blueprint to therapy. My approach is collaboratively tailored to fit you. You will find me to be an approachable, accepting, and non-judgemental person who prioritizes you. We will work together on your goals. We may discuss hard things, but we will balance that with laughter. We will go at your pace, but I will challenge you when needed. Most of all, you will feel heard, understood, and respected when you are here.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked for over 20 years in nonprofit, government, education, corporate, and creative ad agency settings. While I have always prioritized helping others in my work, I wanted to be in a deeper relationship with people. An accomplished professional, husband of 20 years, and proud father of two boys, I am excited to draw from my own experience, while eager to learn your unique story, as together we pursue positive change and growth for your life.
Clinical Experience
My integrative therapeutic approach is rooted in common factors, and influenced by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy. I integrate Emotional Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method with couples. Believing no one particular model resonates with everybody, I work to stay up-to-date on other evidence-based practices, prioritizing what fits best for my clients.
Prior to joining Nashville Therapy Group, I was at Daystar Counseling and the Lipscomb Family Therapy Center, where I worked with youth and adolescents, adults, parents, couples, and whole family systems.
Clinical Specialties
I enjoy working with pre-teens, adolescents, adults, couples, parents, and families, and welcome diversity. My specific areas of therapeutic interest include men’s issues, couple relationships (dating, pre-marital, cohabiting, and married), anxiety and depression, work and career, issues of self and self worth, purpose, fulfillment, and spirituality.
