Hi, I’m Evan.

A Tennessee native, born and raised, I am guided by two core passions: service and adventure. These values have shaped my life and led me to meaningful work and relationships across diverse communities. My experiences include working in leprosy colonies in India and East Africa, completing a Peace Education certificate in Rwanda, partnering with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office as an educator within the Nashville prison system, and conducting empathy training with law enforcement agencies throughout the United States. I am honored to have been named a 2023 Tillman Scholar by the Pat Tillman Foundation and feel fortunate to be a part of a community committed to service and leadership. Through this work, I’ve come to believe that life’s challenges can either hinder our growth or become powerful catalysts for it.

These experiences inform my belief, first and foremost, that my clients are competent, creative, and wise individuals capable of leading personally meaningful and fulfilling lives. As a therapist, my role is not to “fix” you, but to partner with you in exploring some of the most important questions you will ever ask yourself. Therapy does not need to be a humiliating or stigmatizing process. I view mental health care as an intentional investment—much like working with a personal trainer—where insight, practice, and support come together to foster growth and change. While this work can be uncomfortable and challenging at times, effective therapy should also feel empowering, hopeful, and even enjoyable as you build greater clarity, confidence, and intention in your life.

Clinical Experience

As a clinician, I have worked in both private practice and clinical settings. I specialized in counseling within the military community and completed my clinical fieldwork in a specialized behavioral health clinic serving post-9/11 service members and their families in Clarksville, Tennessee. This experience shaped my understanding of the unique stressors related to identity, significant life transitions, trauma exposure, and the impact of high-demand roles and systems on an individual’s well-being.

Today, I work primarily with adults who are grappling with important transitions, experiencing relational disruptions, or struggling with depression and anxiety. My therapeutic approach is grounded, collaborative, and practical—integrating evidence-based care with deep respect for each client’s lived experience, values, and goals.

With over a decade of experience as a consultant and coach for high-performance teams and leaders, I bring a nuanced understanding of the internal and relational challenges faced by individuals in high-responsibility, high-pressure environments. In my clinical work, I emphasize emotional awareness, communication skills, nervous system regulation, and psychological flexibility, drawing from current research in neuroscience, attachment theory, and personality psychology. My goal is to help clients build insight and resilience while creating meaningful, sustainable change—both internally and within their relationships and roles.

Clinical Specialties

My areas of special clinical interest include: Military and veteran counseling, adults and older teens experiencing relational distress, navigating significant change, managing mood-based challenges such as depression and anxiety, identity-related concerns, shock trauma (PTSD), developmental trauma (C-PTSD), and recovery from religious trauma.
