Therapy is an investment in your wellbeing.
Therapy is not just another expense. It’s an investment in your emotional health, your relationships, your peace of mind, and your future. People come to therapy when something matters enough to change—and that kind of change is worth a significant commitment.
At Nashville Therapy Group, we take your time, trust, and money seriously. We’re committed to making each session meaningful and tailored to your needs. You’re not just paying for an hour of our time. You’re investing in lasting change.
How much does therapy cost?
Therapy with a Licensed Therapist
/50 minute session
$175 - $250
Our most experienced clinicians. Licensed therapists have thousands of hours of training and specialize in a wide range of issues. If you’re looking for deep expertise or focused support, this is where to start.
Therapy with a Pre-Licensed Therapist
/50 minute session
$125 - $175
Skilled, dedicated, and actively honing their craft. Pre-licensed therapists have completed graduate school and already bring years of experience to their work—offering high-quality care at a more accessible rate.
Therapy with a Clinical Intern
/50 minute session
$50 - $125
Thoughtful, compassionate, and closely supervised. Interns are advanced graduate students who offer deeply engaged support at the most affordable rates. A strong option if you’re working with a tighter budget.
Rates may vary.
Some of our therapists may have higher rates, and some of our therapists may have lower rates. If you are concerned about the cost of therapy, talk with us. All of our therapists make room in their schedules for clients who need reduced rates, and we are committed to helping you find an option that’s sustainable for you.
We do not accept insurance.
Here’s what we do instead: We are considered an out-of-network provider, which means we do not bill insurance directly, but many clients are still able to get partial reimbursement for their sessions. You’ll pay for sessions at the time of your appointment, and we can accept HSA and FSA cards as payment. We can also provide a superbill—a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement. Coverage varies widely, so we recommend contacting your insurance provider to ask about out-of-network mental health benefits, reimbursement rates, and deductibles. Many clients also use services such as Thrizer that simplify the claims process.
We can provide you with a Good Faith Estimate.
Every client has the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges. This is part of your protection under the No Surprises Act and is designed to help you make informed decisions about your care. While rates will always be discussed with you prior to your first session, you can request a Good Faith Estimate at any point during your treatment, and your therapist will be happy to provide it. For more details, please read our Good Faith Estimate Notice.
This is about you.
Choosing to invest in therapy means choosing to prioritize your emotional, relational, and psychological wellbeing. It means trusting that the work you do now will lead to greater clarity, healing, and connection for years to come.
Therapy is an investment in yourself—and you’re worth it.
Why we don’t accept insurance.
We do not accept insurance. Our reasons are very important to us. Quite simply, we refuse to be part of a broken system. For us, this is not just a business decision. It is a moral one.
American health insurance is a profit-driven machine that routinely exploits both clients and clinicians. It devalues mental health, forces unnecessary diagnoses, limits care arbitrarily, and reduces healing to paperwork. It’s invasive, extractive, and designed to serve profit, not people.
At Nashville Therapy Group, we believe therapy should be private, relational, and human—not dictated by a corporation with a financial incentive to say no. Insurance companies demand labels that follow you forever. They collect data on your pain. They tell you how long you’re allowed to feel something. They ask us to reduce your life to a billable diagnosis.
We believe that is unethical. We also believe it’s no accident. Insurance companies have worked for decades to underfund mental health care, to burn out clinicians, and to push providers out of network so they can deny care altogether. Their reimbursement rates are equally offensive, far below what it costs to provide ethical, high-quality care.
We want no part of it. By staying independent, we get to focus on what actually matters: meaningful care, ethical standards, and long-term sustainability for both clients and clinicians. Most importantly, you get to decide when and how you show up to therapy, not some claims department with an AI-driven algorithm.
Our model is better. It allows therapists to set fair rates, maintain manageable caseloads, and avoid the exhaustion that comes from overwork and underpayment. In turn, this means that you receive more thoughtful, present, and consistent care. We’ve built a practice where skilled, passionate clinicians can actually thrive—and that makes all the difference in the quality of support we’re able to offer you.
